Shami Patel is Managing Director of both Cohen & Company and FinTech Acquisition Corp. III. Mr. Patel is a former Board member and Chair of the Audit Committee of FinTech Acquisition Corp. and Fintech Acquisition Corp II. Previously, Mr. Patel helped launch and managed the Insurance platforms at Cohen & Company, which have provided over $2.5 billion to over 140 U.S. and Bermuda based insurance companies. He has held various senior executive and board positions of both public and private high growth companies including as CEO of LumiGrow, COO of Alesco Financial (NYSE: AFN), CFO of TRM Corp (NASDAQ: TRMM). Mr. Patel holds a BA in Philosophy and Economics from Trinity University along with a M.B.A and J.D. with honors from Duke University.
Ms. Abrams is a partner at FTAC Ventures and the Chief Operating Officer of FinTech Masala, LLC, an investment platform that sponsors fintech-focused special purpose acquisition companies, including FinTech Acquisition Corp. III (NASDAQ: FTAC). Ms. Abrams previously served as the General Counsel of CardConnect Corp., a NASDAQ-listed payments company, joining CardConnect’s executive team following the company’s merger with FinTech Acquisition Corp. Prior to joining CardConnect, Ms. Abrams was a partner at Ledgewood Law and attorney in the Business and Finance group at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP, where she advised public and private companies in capital markets transactions, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters. In that capacity, she has represented clients in the issuance of billions of dollars of debt and equity securities and in M&A transactions spanning various industries. Ms. Abrams holds a B.S. in Finance from the Pennsylvania State University Schreyer Honors College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Dan Long is a partner at FTAC Ventures and a Managing Director at Cohen and Company. He has co-founded 2 fintech companies and is an investment professional with over 14 years as a fund manager, proprietary trader, banker and technologist across a vast array of assets. Previously, he was Portfolio Manager at Incline which pioneered investments in Marketplace Lending. He also co-founded PeerIQ which was the first Marketplace Lending analytics platform. Previous to PeerIQ, Mr. Long served as a Portfolio Manager of a structured credit fund at Resource America. Prior To Resource, Mr. Long was a proprietary trader at Barclays Capital in the Portfolio Management Trading Group. Mr. Long began his career as a structurer at Barclays Capital in the Structured Funds Group. Mr. Long holds a M.A. in Philosophy (Mathematical Logic) from Stanford University, was a Ph.D candidate in Mathematics and Computer Science at Universite de Paris 7 - Denis Diderot, and holds a B.A. in Mathematics and a B.A. in Philosophy with Dual Honors from the University of California, Berkeley.
Daniel G. Cohen is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cohen & Company Inc. and of the board of managers of Cohen & Company’s majority owned subsidiary, Cohen & Company LLC. Mr. Cohen is Chief Investment Officer of Cohen & Company’s Asset Management Business, President and Chief Executive of Cohen & Company’s European Business, and President, director and Chief Investment Officer of Cohen & Company’s indirect majority owned subsidiary, Cohen & Company Financial Limited. Mr. Cohen also currently serves as Executive Chairman of The Bancorp, Inc. and Chief Executive Officer of FinTech Acquisition Corp III. In these capacities, Mr. Cohen has overseen the financing, acquisition and placement of billions of dollars of ABS, commercial mortgage-backed securities, corporate and financial technology related assets. Mr. Cohen is a member of the Academy of the University of Pennsylvania, a member of the Visiting Committees for the Humanities of the University of Chicago, and a member of the board for the Institute for Ideas and Imagination in Paris. Mr. Cohen is also the Chairman of the Board of the Paideia Institute, which promotes classical studies, and a Trustee of the Arete Foundation. Mr. Cohen holds a B.A. in East Asian History from University of Chicago.
Betsy Z. Cohen is the founder of The Bancorp, where she served as the Chief Executive Officer from 1999 through 2014. She is a creator of financial businesses with over 30 years of experience in banking, real estate and financial law, as well as real estate lending, investing and development. Mrs. Cohen was the second female law professor on the east coast. In 1974 Mrs. Cohen founded Jefferson Bank in Pennsylvania where she served continuously as Chairman and CEO as well as Chairman and CEO of its holding company, Jeffbanks, Inc., the largest financial institution in Pennsylvania. In 1999, she founded The Bancorp, an FDIC-insured virtual bank providing services to small and mid-size businesses. She is the recipient of numerous awards, among them named in 1997 one of 50 leading female entrepreneurs of the world by the National Foundation for Women Business Owners, ranked in several years among the 25 outstanding Women Bankers and in 2009 named By US Banker as one of 25 Women to Watch. Mrs. Cohen is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Christian Bone is an Analyst at FinTech Masala, focusing primarily on Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) deal execution, and FTAC Ventures, focusing on venture capital investments. Mr. Bone holds a B.A. in Comparative Literature and has recently completed an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Chicago.
